Score of a Painting No. 1 is a sonic and visual response for the painting ‘Fisherman’s Cottage on the Cliffs at Varengeville’, by Claude Monet. The score acts as a vessel to convey deeper emotional moods and themes; represented through original music, sound effects, and the creation of natural environments and settings through sound. The sound work combines these three principles, which are additive to my relationship with the film score, while also referencing other perspectives on the role of sound in film and image; to create a setting, mood, and personality for the painting ‘Fisherman’s Cottage on the Cliffs at Varengeville’.
